So let’s just pretend I’ve just said a bunch of cliché things about how I haven’t blogged in forever and I need to be better about it and long time, no see…etc. and get down to it. I’ve been posting so many outfits on Instagram but failing to update them all on my blog. I wanted to give you guys a roundup of some of my favorite Instagram looks and where all the items of the outfit are from. I incorporated a lot of repeat items to show versatility in re-wearing staple items in different ways. It is “June Gloom” here in Los Angeles so I deemed it appropriate to start with some long sleeve/pants looks for gloomier/cooler weather and then transition down to more spring/summer looks. That was a lot of slashes. Anyways…enjoy!

I decided to be a rebel and wear white after labor day. It was over 90 degrees out after all. When it comes to your personal style, sticking to rules only limits you from doing whatever feels right! And that’s what keeps fashion evolving, people bending the “rules” and setting new trends.
On this particular sweltering day, it felt right to wear a white baby doll dress to my friends birthday barbecue at a park in North Hollywood. I looked hot but stayed cool! I paired it with brown strappy wedges with gold detailing and a straw heel to keep with the romantic summer look.
My necklace stole the show though. It’s so unique and gives the neutral outfit just the right pop of color. I absolutely love both tortoise and turquoise so when I saw this necklace on Shoot the Moon LA, I had to have it. Although its colorful and detailed, it’s quite versatile.

As fall approaches and it cools down (hopefully), I will be posting more fall fashion (my favorite!). Stay tuned and…

I absolutely love these harem pants! They are just the right amount of sexy and comfortable. They have zipper detailing on the bottom sides and a simple draw string waist band. The slouchy fit makes for an exceptionally relaxed yet sleek and tailored look for work, a night out, or travel. I think it’s a must-have staple in any fashionistas wardrobe!

This online shop has boutique, unique and high fashion looks for cheap. I have ordered several things from here and I can tell you first hand it’s also quality material! I’m a big fan of the beautiful necklaces which are sure to stir up attention and compliments. I’m about to order this one right now!
I paired these harem pants with a light and flowy Urban Outfitters top. I love tops with a simple front and playful back. This shirt has one of my favorite backs… I must have a thing for zippers. The front is also shorter than the back. With these pants it looks best with a shirt that’s cropped right above the waist line or with a shirt tucked in. The pants are supposed to have a baggy look but would be too much with a long baggy shirt.
I added a gold and black detailed statement necklace, red lips and black lace up bootie heels and headed out downtown. I received many compliments on my outfit and danced the night away in style and comfort. Beauty doesn’t have to be pain ladies!

I just moved from Burbank to Studio City and it’s a whole new world. It’s a younger, hipper crowd here and it’s greatly awakening my fashion senses. I go to Trader Joe’s and feel like I’m surrounded by people who stepped out of an Urban Outfitters catalog. It has inspired me to get back into my boho chic vibe.
Another great thing about moving is having an excuse to purge half my wardrobe. This usually is no easy feat for me, I’m a bit of a closet hoarder. I know how trends can come back and then I regret getting rid of those clogs or that romper that made a comeback. But I had things in my closet that I hadn’t worn since early college (man saying that makes me feel old) and it was just time for them to go. The great thing about this though is that it brings out clothes that you completely forgot about. My closet was so overwhelming that some quality items were getting lost in there. I found so many gems, it was like going shopping. I suggest anyone who has an overgrown wardrobe does this before feeling the need to go buy more.
I wore this outfit to a free Wailers (you know, from Bob Marley and the Wailers) concert downtown LA. The drape vest is an example of one of those things I found in my closet that I forgot about. The pants are amazing too. Super affordable (Target!), very in right now and they feel like pajamas! I felt very laid back yet still put together, because let’s be real, I’m no true hippie. I had a great night though and I must say I prefer this outfit to a dress and heels any day.

I was scrolling through Pinterest and this one (far left) caught my eye. I love an A-line skirt over a casual cotton top. Navy and white stripes paired with pink seems to be really in lately.
My first impression was that this whole outfit looks pretty expensive and unattainable. But then I realized that the whole purpose of this blog is to show that high fashion looks can be recreated on a budget. I can’t be thinking… “oh looks too expensive” and keep scrolling. So instead, in the words of Barney Stinson, I said to myself… “challenge accepted!”
I believe a good comfy cotton striped shirt, one good statement necklace and a beige trench coat are staple items for ones wardrobe. They are versatile and can be worn a million different ways a million different days (I just made that up, can I coin that phrase?). So there’s 3 things from the outfit right there that I realized I actually already have. If you don’t have them, you absolutely should and can for CHEAP!
The top I used is a little fancier than what’s needed here, but you can get a top like this (minus the sequins) anywhere… Target, Forever 21, JC Penny…etc. I got this trench coat at Marshall’s for maybe 30 bucks and you would never know it. The necklace I got at Forever 21 for maybe 15 bucks. So there ya go!
A pink A-line skirt however isn’t exactly a necessity for your closet, but I actually had this one (which I’ve yet to wear), from YEARS ago. It is from Target. I never really could decide what it would look good with, which is why scrolling through Pinterest is great inspiration. So voila! I’ve made a very creative outfit with it. I think this outfit would look equally as cute though with a black A-line skirt or really almost any solid bright color.
So there ya go, a very classy expensive looking outfit recreated from honestly some of the oldest, cheapest items in my closet.

Back again with another Pinterest recreation for you guys! I plan to share one of these every Sunday. I will use Pinterest to inspire my outfits for the week and show you what I was able to come up with.
What’s that saying? “Stop looking for what you don’t have and be thankful for what you do have”… something cheesy like that. Apply that to your wardrobe. If you’re always looking at magazines and Pinterest for what you DON’T have, you may end up with a bad shopping problem. But if you browse with the intent of finding things you DO have, you will feel like you already own an abundance of things to work with, and be thankful for it (in the spirit of Thanksgiving)!
I find that every item of this outfit here is a staple that can be used with many different things. Of course a white t (this one is from Urban Outfitters) you can do endless things with. I love this gray faux leather Jacket (Target) because I feel it puts a tailored finishing touch on an otherwise simple outfit as well as can dress down a fancier outfit. The light teal jeans are the perfect way to wear colored pants but still keep it subtle and not overly loud or colorful. I can’t remember where I got these, it was from a boutique type store a while back.
Anyways, I encourage you guys to be thankful for what you have and do your own Pinterest recreations! Send them to me and you could be featured on my blog!
